Just 1,000 manufactured by the National Baseball Hall of Fame
The National Baseball Hall of Fame marketed series of Metallic Plaque-cards, 1981 to 1989, at its gift shop. Each plaque is an exact replica - in gold anodized aluminum - of the member's official Hall of Fame plaque in miniature (standard card size), 2-1/2" by 3-1/2". Produced in very small quantities, just 1,000 impressions of each were manufactured - making these
10 times scarcer
than the popular Perez-Steele Hall of Fame art postcards.
Earl Averill made more than: 2,000 hits, 400 doubles, 100 triples, 200 home runs, 1,000 runs, 1,000 RBI; hit better than .300 and slugged above .500. Through 1974 only 11 men had accomplished
all
these feats and Earl's career was briefest. This great ballplayer was belatedly elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975.
